Who am I?

Hello, World!

I am Krishikaa Sankar. I know my name is difficult to pronounce. Repeat it twice or thrice and there you go✌. My name is of Sanskrit origin. It means "The God of wealth and prosperity."  You can call me Krish or Krishi. I was born and brought up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Currently, I reside in Chennai. I am an MBA grad.

I am an introvert in the real world and an extrovert in the underworld (my close circle of friends and family😄). Some call such behavior ambivert, maybe I am. I am a logophile(word lover). I use words to express everything because I believe words have the power to influence our will, mood, decision, desire, and whatnot. Writing down my feelings and emotions helps me to relieve, reminisce, and relive. It works, really. You can give it a shot too.

As for my hobbies, I am an avid reader and occasional writer. I read books of all genres. However, my favorites are classics, whodunnits, rom-coms, and travelogues. Every now and then, I write poems too. I started writing poems after reading haikus. I admire haikus for their brevity and profound meaning. Also, I love Rupi Kaur's poems. They are pithy as well as distinct. I have also read William Shakespeare, John Keats, William Wordsworth, Rudyard Kipling, Robert Frost, and Rabindranath Tagore's works. I admire and respect these people for their imagination, creativity, and their ability to play with words and convey an impactful message or a feeling. I can go on and on about books and poems. But for now, this is enough.

I love traveling and I want to explore this gobsmacking world! This earth is a treasure trove of surprises and I am willing to unravel it at my pace so as to enjoy it to the fullest.

Now, I end with my most favorite quote of all time,

"It takes all the running you can do to keep you in the same place; and if you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that."

                                                                                                     -Lewis Carroll

Girl, I just Graduado!

Three years ago, I decided to pursue an MBA. When I conveyed my decision to my parents, they were super supportive of me. And today, at the 26th Graduation Day celebration at SSN Institutions, receiving my degree made me realise that I have come full circle. What a day it turned out to be! I still vividly remember the first day my mom and dad accompanied me to enrol in the MBA program in July 2023. Since it was a two-year residential program and my first hostel experience, I was very excited. I had never stayed away from my parents until then. So, they were quite apprehensive about my staying away from them, although they never showed it on their faces. In the blink of an eye, I completed my course, and here I am, receiving my degree along with my parents. Decked up in a salwar suit, I reached the venue with my parents. After taking some customary pictures, which my mom insists on quite often, I completed the registration process and collected my graduation robe. A candid pose! O...

I Am the Brightest Star in My Sky!

There’s no joy quite like finding something we once lost. Lost-and-found things bring joy as well as sorrow. They remind us of memories we either want to cherish or forget. It’s October, a month of festivities in India, which means it’s time for deep cleaning and dusting the entire house (even the corners we never knew existed till now!). Like every mom, desi or international, mine too chided me for not cleaning my bookshelf. I love my books so much so that I practically forbid anyone from touching them. It’s not that I don’t organise them; it’s just that I admire the beauty in imperfection and couldn’t bring myself to make it perfect ;) Alas, moms never understand such aesthetics. They want the house neat, tidy, and organised. If I were to describe my bookshelf, I would call it a treasure trove of happiness. It has 3 rows: the first two with books and the last one brimming with memories. I like to call it, “The Meaning of My Life” . This rack holds hidden answer sheets, m...

Anne with an E: A Heartfelt Ode of Appreciation

There’s always ‘scope for imagination',  says Anne-Shirley Cuthbert. Indeed. Recently, I stumbled upon this Canadian period drama, ‘Anne with an E’, on Netflix. It is a loose adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic, Anne of Green Gables.  I must say, I have a soft spot for classics and period dramas. Be it Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice or Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women , I have loved the adaptations just as much as I have loved reading the books. While it’s true that the two forms offer different experiences, I think they each carry their own unparalleled charm. When I read, I imagine characters vividly — Lizzy Bennet’s wit, Josephine March’s fire — but watching actresses bring those characters to life adds a new layer of meaning. With Anne with an E , I watched the series before reading the books, but that didn’t stop me from ordering the entire collection and getting lost in its pages. This blog is my way of pouring out everything I felt while watching th...
